27 Jan 10 - Exercise Imja Tse The post tour report from Ex Imja Tse, aTri-Service medical adventure training exercise that involved QARNNS personnel, is now available if you follow this link Adventure Training 13 Jan 10 - Charity event in memory of the late Surgeon Vice-Admiral Ian Jenkins CVO An intrepid brother and sister team are to undertake a once-in-a-lifetime challenge in memory of their father, the late Surgeon Vice-Admiral Ian Jenkins, who died unexpectedly in February 2009. Together with their respective spouses, Georgina Park and Mike Jenkins aim to raise over £5000 for Seafarers UK by completing the grueling 24 Peaks Challenge in July this year. CPONN Amanda Tinsley will carry the Role of Honour with DSHCS students escorting the lamp. QARNNS Remembrance Service - This will take place at Portsmouth Cathedral, Old Portsmouth at 1200. 05 Nov 09 - QARNNS NATIONAL ARBORETUM MEMORIAL APPEAL Thanks for the stirling efforts of individuals, particularly members of the association the Memorial Appeal now stands at just under £6500, which is just £1500 away from the £8000 target. 9 Sep 09 - Sailing Exercise Canary Gold. This Exercise is a Joint Service Adventurous Sail Training Exercise running from the 5 Oct 09 until 4 Apr 10 deploying in HMSTC CHASER. This is a 16m (55FT) sail training craft to the Canary Islands where it will operate from Lanzarote around the Canary Islands for 14 days per leg before returning to Lanzarote. Interested personnel are directed to the DIN on Exercise Canary Gold on the Defence Intranet (2009DIN10-040). 07 Sept 09 - QARNNS Sport HOCKEY - A combined Royal Marines and Medical (including QARNNS) side won the the RN inter-specialisation tournament held at HMS Temeraire on 4-6 Sept. In other hockey news, Lt Matt Wesson QARNNS, captained the Navy mens team (which also included LNN Simon Dominey) against the England Men's Hockey Team in the grand finale weekend of the navy hockey centenary season. A large crowd came to watch the historic match, including Vice President of Navy hockey Capt Allkins, Matron-in-chief. In other sports news - the first QARNNS Sports day was held on 7 July all at Fort Blockhouse. The day was a great success with the North team captained by Lt Cdr Pete Selwood winning the team prize. Further details and photos will be released here soon. The day previously the QARNNS Rosebowl had been played with Lt Sharon Fraser-Smith and LNN Jason Taylor won the ladies and men's singles titles respectively. 2009 saw the 30th Anniversary Pilgrimage to Lourdes by members of the Royal Navy including 7 QARNNS. To mark this special occasion, Second Sea Lord and the Command Warrant Officer visited the Pilgrimage to see what the Children and the personnel from the RN got up to.
