On Sunday 22nd May LNN Crofts travelled the three and a half hour journey from Plymouth to Eton Downey to represent the Royal Navy and DMG(SW) in the exciting sport of triathlon. She had entered the supersprint tri, which was the start of her big plan to complete a half iron man triathlon by the end of 2017. After training so hard all year, this was the time to shine. Not being her first triathlon with many already completed she had learnt a lot and felt ready for this race. LNN Crofts adapted her training, improved kit and practiced the all-important transitions, but nothing compares to race day. LNN Crofts has been to Eton Downey before and is an ideal venue for a Personal Best. It is a flat route with beautiful scenes for the bike and run phases and a fresh water lake to swim in. The weather on the day was perfect and the support was amazing. With all kit prepared in the transition area, strategically placed for each phase, wetsuit donned the race began. LNN Crofts took each phase as it came, there were mixed emotions throughout but determination kept her going. This was one of those races where if something could go wrong, it did. Unfortunately LNN Crofts didn’t get a PB on this race but she enjoyed the day and learnt even more about the sport of triathlon. The next focus is the next race– which was in 3 days later. After a short break the training continues, this time for an Olympic distance triathlon in July where LNN Crofts is looking forward to representing the unit once more.
LNN Crofts was joined by Sub Lt Vincent at the RNRM Sprint Tri Champs at Raleigh three days after the triathlon at Eton Downey.
